Michigan Musicians Come Together to Perform Benefit Concert for Bethany and Brandon Foote

This coming Sunday evening, respected musicians from around Michigan will join together at People’s Church to offer their talents in support of a couple who are active in the community and have had a challenging year, Bethany and Brandon Foote, who perform under the band name, Gifts or Creatures. Organized by May Erlewine Bernard, this benefit concert will feature Seth Bernard, Drew Howard, Max Lockwood, Steve Leaf, Drew Howard, John Hanson, Tony Roth and Joyce Walker, Micah Ling, Jen Sygit, Laura Bates, the Wilson Brothers, Joey Schultz, Erlewine, and others.

From Thursday November 19th through Sunday November 22nd, the theater department at East Lansing High School will be presenting its annual fall show TBD, or To Be Determined.

Time2Play Hosts Fundraiser at the Unicorn Tavern to Help Aid Effort

This Saturday night, November 7th, local band, Time2Play, will host a fundraiser to help the Greek island of Lesvos provide aid to the large influx of refugees, mostly Syrian and Afghani, arriving on the island. The band is joined in their fundraising effort by Tommy Malvetis owner of the Unicorn Tavern in Old Town Lansing. Malvetis, of Greek heritage himself, is providing the venue for the fundraiser.

East Lansing hosts its 51st annual Art Festival this weekend on May 16 and May 17 and will feature hundreds of artists from all areas of the United States. Lansing’s own Remark Clothing will have a booth on Abbot Road, by the bicycle valet parking. “(That’s a) fitting location given my environmental theme,” Lauren Olsen, founder and owner of Remark Clothing, said.

The cast and crew have a pep talk before rehearsal begins motivating everyone to be the best they can be.

As soon as the bell rings for the end of the school day at East Lansing High School, anxious and excited theater students head to the auditorium for rehearsal for their upcoming show. As they scramble to get into costume, you cannot walk a hallway near the auditorium without encountering bubbly students bouncing with energy. They are getting ready for The Wiz, a musical based on The Wizard of Oz.

Close your eyes and imagine a “Technology Innovation Center.” You probably “saw” computers, desks, gadgets, interactive white boards, half-empty coffee cups and bespectacled geeks. You may not have envisioned paintings, sculpture, ceramics or a live band.

This Sunday from 1-3 PM, East Lansing’s Technology Innovation Center (TIC) has all of the above as it hosts the opening of “Muse,” a fifteen-artist show running through May 17. Music at the opening will be provided by local band The Honey Badgers.

Michigan State University will host its 18th annual performance of The Vagina Monologues at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, February 26 at 8pm, and Saturday, February 27 at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets are $20 with all proceeds going to The Firecracker Foundation, a nonprofit organization which helps girls and boys who have experienced sexual violence.
