Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be speaking to the nation from East Lansing High School tomorrow night as she delivers the Democratic Party response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address.

The governor's daughters attend East Lansing High School and the Democratic Party is trying to turn Michigan to a “blue” state for the 2020 Presidential Election following Trump's critical victory in the state in 2016.

On Jan. 24, U.S. Representatives Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, and Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader, announced that Whitmer had been chosen to deliver the speech. According to a press release from Whitmer's office, "Congresswoman Vernoica Escobar of Texas will deliver the Spanish language response to the speech."

No word is avilable yet on whether any members of the public will be able to watch the speech at the high school. Generally such responses to the State of the Union are delivered in a closed room without an audience, as they are broadcast live.

ELi received a tip on the location of Whitmer's address yesterday afternoon but was not able to confirm it until this morning.
