All members of the East Lansing community are invited on the evening of October 21 to one of the first occasions where all eight candidates running for East Lansing School Board (ELSB) will meet together to discuss issues with residents. Originally scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, this open forum will be held in the East Lansing High School (ELHS) Cafeteria/Student Union from 5:00pm-6:30pm to accommodate parent teacher conferences that same evening.

Candidates will each be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and their platform, share their vision for the ELSB, and participate in a Q&A session with attendees. Members of the community, with or without children in East Lansing Public Schools (ELPS), are encouraged to join in the discussion.

The League of Women Voters of the Lansing Area (LWV) is also hosting a forum for ELSB candidates this coming Wednesday, October 8 at 7:00pm, located at the Hannah Community Center in the Executive Conference Room.

A total of eight candidates will vie for four seats on the ELSB, each with a four year term attached. The following is an alphabetical list of current candidates on the November 4 ballot: Joe Borgstrom, Yasmina Bouraoui, David Gott, Kyle Guerrant, Karen Hoene, Nell Kuhnmuench (Incumbent), Mary Katherine Powers, and Jeffrey C.  Wray.  ELi will continue to offer unbiased, uneditorialized reporting of the ELSB elections throughout the year.
