East Lansing’s Prime Time Seniors Program will be hosting its biennial rummage sale next week. All proceeds from the sale will go towards Prime Time’s operating budget, helping to fund the full schedule of programs that are offered to area seniors. Area residents can participate by donating and by purchasing items.

The sale will take place inside the Hannah Community Center and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday, May 25.

The rummage sale “is a favorite event of many Prime Time participants.” Prime Time Program Planner Lisa Richey told ELi. “It ends up being a really nice combination of a social event and fundraiser, on top of offering a service for seniors who are downsizing. They are happy to donate their goods to us since the money raised goes directly toward operating the programs they love.”

Prime Time Seniors is a nationally-accredited program that offers over 200 different courses to area residents who are 55 years of age or older. Subject matter includes health, finance, and technology, as well as fine art pursuits like art and film.

Area residents who are looking to declutter can help out the Prime Time Seniors program by donating their gently-used items to the Prime Time offices, located on the first floor of the Hannah Community Center. Donations will be accepted during regular office hours, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Items that can be donated include linens, jewelry, antiques, collectibles, dishes, baby equipment, games, puzzles, craft supplies, DVD’s, small pieces of furniture, and tools. Donation receipts will be available upon request.

Some items cannot be accepted due to space limitations, so please do not bring books, clothing, shoes, computers, printers, DVD and VCR equipment, encyclopedias, stereo equipment, speakers, typewriters, magazines, suitcases, golf clubs, ski equipment, or large piece of furniture.

If you are wondering whether your donation might be acceptable, please call the Prime Time office at (517) 337-1113 ahead of visiting.
