"Two Pump House Concert favorites, Jon Brooks (Toronto) and Michelle Held (Detroit) come together for an intimate evening of original music.
Jon Brooks’ music is polyphonic in sound, word, and influence. His performances are emotionally intense raids on the inexplicable human heart. Brooks’ 7 albums are thematic obsessions over paradox, love, fear, religion, war, PTSD, technology, grief, animal justice, murder, ecology, esoterica, and the stars - his essential message: we are loved.
Michelle Held has a soulful voice and presence that immediately captivates. With her unconventional guitar playing, complemented by a poignant and thought-provoking lyrical world, she is establishing herself as a force in the next generation of poets and singer-songwriters, and was acknowledged in 2018 & 2019 as an emerging songwriter by the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival."

The Pump House is a neighborhood-run listening room located in the heart of the Bailey Neighborhood in East Lansing (368 Orchard St.). It is a converted water-pumping house built by the WPA in the 1930’s. This intimate atmosphere provides a comfortable and involving listening environment; it’s a very special way to listen to music.

We only sell tickets at the door. Suggested donation is almost always $15 (occasionally $20). All money goes to the musicians. We only do one show a month, almost always on Sunday evenings.
