Jon Brooks has been nominated for Canadian songwriter of the year four times, and is a Kerrville New Folk winner. Though his music is filled with morally ambiguous characters living on the outskirts of approval, his mandate is clear: “I’ve chosen to write healing songs & so I’m obliged to reveal a wound or two.” The Smiling and Beautiful Countryside, was nominated for two 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards. “You speak & sing words that need to be spoken” – Rod Kennedy ,Kerrville founder

Jon will also perform a free preview show at The Broad Museum's Acoustic Lunch series, Sept 22nd at 12:30.

The Pump House is a neighborhood-run listening room located in the heart of the Bailey Neighborhood in East Lansing (368 Orchard St.). It is a converted water-pumping house built by the WPA in the 1930’s. This intimate atmosphere provides a comfortable and involving listening environment; it’s a very special way to listen to music.
