East Lansing Police are investigating the report of a stolen vehicle overnight Thursday from a driveway in the 500 block of Oakwood Drive in the Glencairn neighborhood.

Police received a call at 7:13 a.m. this morning that described the stolen vehicle as a black 2018 Jeep Cherokee.

According to ELPD Deputy Chief Steve Gonzalez, the “keys were with the vehicle." Gonzalez says, “we have a person of interest that we’d like to talk to” whose image was captured by a neighbor’s surveillance camera (below).

“This is not a suspect but simply a person of interest,” Gonzalez said. “The image was captured at a neighbor’s house (from where the vehicle was stolen.) This individual was seen trying to gain entry to a Jeep Wrangler that is shown in the picture.”

Gonzalez said it does not sound like the person gained entry to the Wrangler, but then went across the street or next door, perhaps to steal the Cherokee.

East Lansing Police encourage anyone with information to call the Detective Bureau at (517) 319-6884.
