It’s time for fun and fundraising at Pinecrest Elementary School. Bidding opens for the school’s annual silent auction on Monday, May 13, and the school’s end-of-the-year carnival will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

The two events are the Pinecrest Parent Council's (PPC's) biggest annual fundraisers. The money raised is used to fund council-coordinated events and provide funding toward classroom field trips to the Wharton Center, the third grade Big Zoo lesson, fourth grade trip to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, and the fifth grade trip to Greenfield Village.

The PPC also offers small grants of up to $1,000 to teachers for additional classroom materials or hands-on learning experiences, and reimburses teachers up to $150 per classroom for materials, supplies, decorations, and furniture every year.

In addition to mini-grants and classroom support, the PPC purchases books for every Pinecrest teacher and the school’s library, as well as one book for each student. They also host special events throughout the school year including two book fairs, a STEAM activity night, a multicultural night, a family dance, and a science project fair.

This year’s silent auction offers a variety of items including restaurant gift cards, American Girl dolls, birthday party packages, photography sessions, ukuleles, MAC memberships, and more.

The May 31 carnival will feature lots of free and ticketed games and activities, plus concessions. There will be an inflatable slide and baseball game, a video game truck, a “bake walk,” tie dying, face painting, a slime station, and student favorite “Pie Face” where students purchase tickets for the opportunity to throw a shaving cream pie at their teacher.

Auction bidding starts May 13 and runs through May 28, and items may be picked up at the carnival on May 31, or by email arrangement. You do not need to be the parent or guardian of a Pinecrest student to bid on items.

Pinecrest Elementary School is located at 1811 Pinecrest Drive.
