MSU Department of Theater, following a highly acclaimed 2011-2012 season, will kick off the new academic year with Anton Chekov's classic, Three Sisters, in repertory with Jane Martin's Anton in Show Business, both directed by Rob Roznowski. Anton in Show Business, winner of the 2001 American Theater Critics Steinberg New Play Award, is a comedy about three actresses taking on the title Chekov roles. Variety described it as, "A smart, acerbic, crowd pleaser.... Simultaneously a love letter and a poison pen letter to the American Theater."

Performances will take place at the Arena Theater in the Auditorium, beginning with Three Sisters, at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 18, followed by Anton in Show Business on Wednesday, and continuing in alternation through a 2 pm matinee of the latter on Sunday, September 30. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8 pm. Advanced tickets are available through the Wharton Center box office. This year's MSU Department of Theater season is entitled, "(New) Plays in New Ways," and includes such new plays as Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, the week of November 9, James and the Giant Peach, a world premier of U.P. (yes, that U.P.!), and Funny Girl, as the annual musical, in April. A full season schedule can be found by clicking here.
