Holiday markets aren’t just for people living in quaint European cities. East Lansing will host Winter Glow – its own free, outdoor winter festival – from 2-5 p.m. this Saturday on the Ann Street Plaza, at Fountain Square, and inside the Marriott Hotel. All locations are near the intersection of Albert and M.A.C. Avenues.

Winter Glow will include child-friendly activities and games, ice carving, horse and carriage rides, winter photo scenes, marshmallow roasting, merchant activities, roasted nuts, a community art project, a heated music tent, and donation-based hot chocolate that benefits the East Lansing Art Festival.

If mall Santas aren’t your scene, you can bring the kids for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 3-6 p.m. inside the Marriott. Each family receives one free photo, and additional photos are $5.

The fun isn’t all for the under-12 set, though. This year’s Winter Glow will feature a chance to finish up your holiday shopping (or stock up your pantry) at an outdoor holiday farmers' market featuring many of the popular East Lansing Farmers Market vendors, including Nut Brothers, Civil Ferments, Jenny's Sweets & Treats, Steffey Farm/Para Para Creamery, Guiding Light Garlic Farm, Where the Wild Things Bloom, Sapo de Solis, and Droscha Sugarbush.

Fortify yourself with a little hot chocolate and you can continue shopping across Grand River Avenue at the 56th Annual Winter Arts and Crafts Show in the MSU Union from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Parking will be free in gated garages and lots from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday. © 2013-2020 East Lansing Info
