For East Lansing adults hoping to take part in the city’s four-on-four soccer league, the deadline to register is coming up soon.

Registration for the inaugural league, run by the East Lansing Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts, closes on Friday, June 29. There are three divisions — men’s, women’s and co-ed — and the cost is $420.00 per team to register.

“We are excited to try something new by introducing Adult 4v4 Soccer,” ELPRA Director Tim McCaffrey said in a press release.

The league will feature a six-game season with games for each team on Tuesdays and Thursdays, running from mid-July to August. The season ends with a single elimination tournament featuring the teams.

Games will be played on the lighted fields at the East Lansing Softball Complex located at 6400 Abbott Road, behind the East Lansing Family Aquatic Center.

Each game will be teams of four pitted against each other, as opposed to regular soccer’s eleven players — though teams can roster up to ten players — and games are shortened from 90 to 20 minutes.

“We have the facilities and a lot of interest in soccer throughout the community to really run this well,” McCaffrey continued in the press release. Downloadable registration forms are available here.
