Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, a Michigan-based Northern United Brewing Co. brand, announced today its plan to open a new East Lansing location by fall 2019. Jolly Pumpkin will be located along Albert Avenue in the Center City District Development.
With current pubs in Ann Arbor, Dexter, Detroit, Royal Oak, Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Chicago, the business is also expanding to the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Dearborn. The East Lansing location will be the eighth Jolly Pumpkin in Michigan. Jolly Pumpkin is known for supporting Michigan businesses, local communities and has a philosophy focusing on dedication to conservation, inspiration, and locally sustainable practices.
“Jolly Pumpkin’s announcement is another great example of East Lansing being the right location for growth,” Mark Meadows, Mayor of East Lansing, said in a prepared statement. “East Lansing has an amazing community and we are attracting businesses that want to be a part of it.”
Jolly Pumpkin has been eyeing the East Lansing market for years, but this specific location has been on the company’s radar for about eight months to a year, according to Megan Worden, Marketing & Community Relations Manager at Northern United Brewing Company.
“The greater Lansing area is a fantastic market full of amazing people, and dynamic businesses,” Worden said. “We have wanted to be in the heart of the State for a long time, and jumped at this opportunity.”
Worden said the East Lansing Jolly Pumpkin Café & Brewery will be a full-service restaurant with 30+ taps featuring the award-winning, barrel-aged artisan ales, beers from North Peak Brewing Company, and hard ciders from Nomad Cidery. The 6,000-square-foot indoor space will include an adjacent 1,000-square foot mezzanine.
