6:10 pm: Introduction of Principals and Staff
6:20 pm: A Presentation on Kindergarten in ELPS
6:30 pm: Visit your elementary school table as well as other tables for information about:
•Transportation•English Learner Services•Food Service by Chartwells•Before and After Care by the City of East Lansing•Schools of Choice•Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)

We apologize that we are not able to offer childcare at this parent event.

Enrollment for Kindergarten or Young Fives should be completed online at www.elps.us/elfamily. Birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency are required to be uploaded with your registration. Residents of East Lansing should complete the online enrollment process no later than March 6. Paper enrollment forms will be available at this meeting, each of our elementary schools and the Superintendent’s office beginning February 28.

For families interested in Schools of Choice, information will be shared at this meeting as well as on our website www.elps.us (Parents – School of Choice).An additional kindergarten event for parents and incoming kindergarten children will be held in the spring at each elementary school on Tuesday, May 19.

Kindergarten Eligibility
A child who resides in the school district may enroll in kindergarten if the child is at least 5 years of age on September 1 of the school year of enrollment.Exceptions Provided for Enrollment Age Section 6(4)(l)(iii) of the State School Aid Act (MCL 388.1606) provides that if a child does not meet the minimum age requirement to be eligible to attend school for that school year under Section 1147, but will be 5 years of age not later than December 1 of that school year, the district may enroll the child for that school year if the parent or legal guardian has notified the district in writing that he or she intends to enroll the child in kindergarten for that school year.Please Note: Notification in writing is satisfied by completing enrollment documents
