ELPD and MSU Police Receive Threats Involving MSU Athletics

In a jointly issued statement The East Lansing and Michigan State University police departments have said that both “have received a letter making general threats against Michigan State University athletic events.”

The letter specifies neither the location nor the manner of any threatened action.

Both police departments “are working in conjunction with additional law enforcement agencies to investigate the origin and validity of these statements,” and “the case remains an open and active investigation.

Deputy Chief of ELPD Steve Gonzalez says ELPD “encourages people to continue with their normal activities; however, we want people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
