Ken Yates with special guest Jen Sygit
THURSDAY MARCH 23rd Music at 7pm
Since first planting roots within the Canadian music scene in 2011, Ken Yates has steadily grown a reputation as one of the country’s brightest singer/songwriters. His sound offers the complete package—unforgettable melodies, emotionally charged storytelling, and top-notch guitar chops—all gloriously displayed on Yates’ new album, Huntsville.
Ken’s sound offers the complete package—unforgettable melodies, emotionally charged storytelling, and top-notch guitar chops. John Mayer said of a Yates song, it “moved me when I first heard it, and it still does today.” From Ontario, Ken is a Berklee College of Music grad. His music echoes of the Canadian songwriting tradition, from Gordon Lightfoot to Bruce Cockburn to Ron Sexsmith.
Lansing’s favorite songstress, Jen Sygit, winner of the Michigan Broadcasters Broadcast Excellence Award, will join Ken.
The Pump House is a neighborhood-run listening room located in the heart of the Bailey Neighborhood in East Lansing (368 Orchard St.). It is a converted water-pumping house built by the WPA in the 1930’s. This intimate atmosphere provides a comfortable and involving listening environment; it’s a very special way to listen to music.
We only sell tickets at the door. Suggested donation is almost always $15 (occasionally $20). All money goes to the musicians. We only do one show a month, almost always on Sunday evenings.
