April 2: MSU Wells Hall B-122
On Sunday, three full-length Israeli films will be presented:
Apples from the Desert (1:45-3:50 pm), which follows a young ultra-Orthodox woman's attraction to the secular world and her rebellion against an arranged marriage
Arabic Movie (4:00-5:45 pm), which chronicles the showing of Israel’s weekly Arabic movie, which allowed some Israelis to return to their homeland
Baba Joon (6:30-8:45 pm), which details the conflicts that a young boy has with his father and provides insight into Jews who came to Israel from Iran
Professor Yael Aronoff, Director of Jewish Studies, will lead the discussion after Apples from the Desert; Ellen and Dany Rothfeld will introduce Arabic Movie; and director Yuval Delshad will introduce and lead the discussion for his movie Baba Joon.
Tuesday, April 4: MSU Wells Hall B-119
Sand Storm (7:00 until 9:15 pm) Wafa Alkrenawi, former Fulbright Scholar at MSU, will join us to watch and discuss Sand Storm, a movie that follows the challenges a mother and her daughter face with Bedouin marriage traditions.
